Hey There! We hope everyone is enjoying their summer. It has been EXTRA hot, humid and sticky here. Muggy weather is pretty uncomfortable, but the summer thunderstorms are fun to watch and we are saving tons on our water bill, rarely having to water the lawn...
This summer we have done quite a bit- a trip to California, Hawaii, a couple parties, a weekend in Chicago and will be back to California again in the fall. It feels like we have barely been home! So, we spent last week driving around checking out neighboring towns and local trails in Indy...Which equals free and fun!!!
Isn't this church BEAUTIFUL???? It is located in a small town called Elwood.
Here is the clock tower in Elwood. It seems like a ton of towns in the Midwest have their own clock tower...

We found a new trail. It is down the street from Forest Park and runs along the White River closer to downtown...
Check out ALL the corn!!! There is an expression out here "Knee High By the 4th of July." Well, because of all the rain and humidity, the corn has grown exceptionally fast this summer!

This weekend, we drove up to Chicago for a weekend of fun!
Chicago is pretty close- only about a 3 hour drive. I love Indianapolis, but Chicago is the most AWESOME big city I have ever been to! Chicago is GIANT and there is a TON to do...
We went to the Cubs game Saturday afternoon. We had to take the train to get there. It was great! I love when cities have well thought-out public transportation...
We purchased rooftop tickets. It was fantastic! All you can eat and all you can drink the ENTIRE game!!!
We met up with our friend April and some other friends we have met through her :)

Ryan and I had planned on staying with our friend, Andrea but she recently moved back to California. All the hotels were booked, so we had to stay in a Hostel! Surprisingly, it wasn't too bad and it saved us a decent amount of money in
comparison to a hotel. This particular Hostel was located in Lincoln Park.
When April told us about the Cubs game months ago, I had no idea who they were playing. We just knew we REALLY wanted to see a game at Wrigley Field. Ironically, they were playing the
Phillies! Our friend Ryan pitches for the
Phillies, so after the game we got to have dinner with him and our other friend from high school, Nathan who relocated to Chicago for work a few months ago!
We ate at a Cuban restaurant called Havana, It was delicious. We got to meet some of
Madson's friends, Nathan's wife Taylor and their beautiful little girl,
Sophia. It was awesome to see everyone and catch up after all these years! Here is a shot of Nathan and the two

One of the reasons all the hotels were booked is because Transformers 3 was being filmed on Michigan Avenue! It was CRAZY!!! Here is Ryan behind part of the set from one of the scenes...

So to top off a fabulous weekend, on Sunday I FINALLY got to enjoy my 30th birthday present from Ryan!!! The Pat Benatar/REO Speedwagon concert! Who LOVES the 80's???? Um, duh if you don't know the answer by now we are in trouble! Excuse the Humidity Afro!
The concert was held at the Charter One Pavillion, which was a perfect venue. Outdoors, not too big with an awesome view of the Chicago Skyline!
Pat Benatar ROCKED!!! She played all my faves- Shadows of the Night, Hit Me with Your Best Shot, Invincible, Heartbreaker, We Belong and Love is a Battlefield...
Then it was time for some REO! They sing two of my favorite all time love ballads- Keep on Loving You and I Can't Fight this Feeling. They also played other good tunes like Roll with the Changes, Take it on the Run and Time for me to Fly...
Ryan is the best hubby! He is not an 80's fan, but sacrificed for the greater good! Brownie Points for you, buddy :)
Last but not least, the retaining wall bricks have all been laid! Hallelujah!
They turned out pretty decent don't you think?
This summer has been sooooo fun!!! Only a few more weeks off and then it is back to the grind...
