It's the Little Things...

Well, we heard from more than one person that this was going to be one of the coldest/snowiest winters in Indy's history.... The predictions were correct!!! On Tuesday evening into the wee hours of Wednesday morning, we got almost an entire foot of snow!!! This is the most snow Indiana has had in the last 13 years! In Noblesville, we got dumped on- 9.5 inches to be exact...Can you imagine looking out your window and waking up to this???

Or this??? Or how about going outside and having to shovel and shovel and shovel just to get out of your driveway??? Nice buns, Ryan!!!
Beautiful...
Gotta love the white stuff...Feels like winter...Unbelieveable... In Indianapolis, the snowfall was even greater- reaching 12.5 inches in some parts. Since Ryan and I both work in Indianapolis, we reaped the benefits of having 2 days off of work!!! Yep, we didn't have school on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. We will have to make up these days at the end of the school year...but to not have to drive/deal with the snow was a Godsend!

We are fortunate that our profession allows time off for inclement weather. We were able to enjoy two fun-filled days with each other and our our baby boys!!! I am not really sure who enjoys snow days more...us or the pups??? What do you think???The longer I live, the more I am grateful for pursuing a career in education. Sure there will ALWAYS be those people who knock it- but I don't really understand why???

We may never be millionaires, but the time off with each other is so valuable and the job security is a blessing! We have more than we will ever need to live a comfortable life...In the grand scheme of things, isn't that all that really matters? So many are caught up with their gadgets and their status...it all seems so silly to me-

Moving here has made me really appreciate the 'little things" in life...
One of my favorite quotes is:
"Simplicity is the essence of happiness."
I truly believe that with all my heart.
I love, love, love the snow-dusted trees...
and looking out the window at our neighborhood covered in a blanket of white...
and watching Sammy play outside...
As I mentioned in previous posts, he absolutely LOVES the snow... Look at him go!!!Frodie....not so much!!!!
He prefers to live it up inside of Ryan's jacket...
Many of our neighbors were off work/school as well and enjoying the Winter Wonderland:
We spent a majority of Wednesday with our good friends Brian and Sabrina, who had the day off too. Our other good friends Eric and Liz had to go to work, which was a bummer because the 6 of us always hang out together.
Here is a pic of Brian and Ryan...
Here is Sabrina and all of our doggies:

Here is a shot of Eric and Liz's house on the left, Sabrina and Brian's house on the right and the new build in between. As you can imagine, our friends are bummed that someone is literally coming between them...Despite the harsh economic times, construction is continuing throughout our development. In fact, we only have 2 more open lots left on our cul-de-sac! These construction workers amaze me- they are out here working rain, shine or SNOW!!!

Yes...the pros outweigh the cons for us- but don't be mislead....there are cons. We can't lounge by the pool and enjoy 80 degree weather!!! We are glad all of our Cali friends and fam get to! Soak up some rays for us!!!

And remember- despite the difficulties our nation is experiencing...

Don't forget to reflect on all the wonderful things in life that you have to be thankful for!!!
Until next time....xo

P.S. Have a fun Super Bowl Sunday!!! Don't drink and drive! Since our Colts lost, we will be cheering on the Steelers, in honor of our friend, Ryan Day. He has been a devoted fan for as long as we have known him and since we can't hang out with our CA friends, we want him to know we will be there in spirit cheering them on as well!!! :)
If you are cheering for the Cardinals, feel free to text us and give us crap throughout the game...Erin and I did that during the Colts vs. Chargers game and had a blast!!!

GO STEELERS!!!
